Membership
Membership is a commitment to the Biblical Purpose, Covenant, and Statement of Faith of Fellowship Bible Church. Membership in FBC does not produce salvation, but is a public expression of a personal relationship with Christ through salvation (I Corinthians 1:9; Titus 3:5-7; I John 1:3).
There are three simple prerequisites to becoming a member at Fellowship Bible Church:
- Salvation - Individuals desiring to become members of FBC must present a verbal testimony of their salvation experience (i.e., faith in Christ) to the elders. The members of FBC do not hold to professing a mere creed (truth about Jesus - Matthew 7:21-23) but to knowing a Person - the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:36). Those seeking membership are encouraged to share their testimony with the church for edification of believers, an example to the lost, and for praise to God.
- Baptism - Believer’s baptism by immersion is a public testimony of one’s personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41). Therefore, salvation is a prerequisite to baptism. Since baptism is an act of obedience, pictures the work of Christ, and is significant in the Scriptures, a believer must be baptized by immersion prior to becoming a member (Matthew 28:19).
- Membership Application - Those seeking membership are asked to read and sign the membership application thereby committing to the following Covenant:
- I will commit to live in accordance with Biblical principles (Psalm 119:33, 34; Colossians 3:16-17)
- I will agree to support the beliefs of this body as articulated in the Statement of Faith
- I will demonstrate a willingness to use my gifts and abilities for the edification of this body (1 Cor. 12:7)
- I will agree to submit to and be accountable to the leaders and fellow members of FBC (Eph. 5:21; Heb. 13:4, 17).
- I am in agreement with the statement of faith, desirous of the accountability from this body of believers, and look forward to fulfilling my responsibilities to other members of FBC.
Membership classes are offered the first 4 weeks of each Wednesday night class quarter. If you are interested in becoming a member of Fellowship Bible Church please contact Ron Brucker.
